Katie began her peace-building work in childhood, finding ways to help the playground bullies overcome frustrations with being unable to tie shoes, helping young women navigate challenging issues of relationship and womanhood in high school, and even fostering interfaith dialogue on campus. She began more formal work in peace-building more than two decades ago, as she began working conscientiously in interfaith dialogue and attempting to build reconciliation practices between Jews and Christians in Los Angeles.
Through her BA and studies in international politics and development and her Master’s in theology, she continued to deepen her understanding of peace-work on a personal and global scale, and began to see the important intersections between being a person rooted and grounded in Peace, and enacting policies and practices that bring more peaceful environments throughout the world. Through her continuing post-graduate education at Trinity College Dublin, through the Irish School of Ecumenics, she also established complex interfaith networks across the globe and has been writing and publishing in areas of US Evangelical Identity, Understanding Fundamentalism, and spirituality. She is currently working on a few different manuscripts on “Peace-Full Parenting” and Spiritual Practice for “Nones” and “Dones”. She authors a blog at The Whispered Life, and hosts an online spiritual cohort through Keeper of the Well.
